The DBF and I agreed that the next time we go on vacation, it should be to a country we both have never seen before.
The DBF made me choose which part of Austria I wanted to go to over the weekend: Vienna, Innsbruck, or Salzburg. Going to Vienna will entail booking airplane tickets which I thought was too costly for a quick stay. Innsbruck is nicer to go to during winter so I chose Salzburg!
The DBF was nice enough to drive for a good 7 hours through the German Autobahn. He had to endure my mood swings, random stories, and of course, my singing! What?! Who wouldn’t be in the mood to sing when you know you’re going to the place where the lyrics “The hills are alive… and Do a deer” were first sung?! Aaaahhh Austria…
The town is enveloped by rows and rows of majestic hills. We climbed up the hill leading to the huge castle. As soon as we reached the peak, we heard music fill the air from the town plaza. We saw the entire city literally light-up amidst the darkness. It was breathtaking.
Salzburg has a huge town centre where all the restaurants are. The buildings are old but they are all newly-painted! The town is so clean and all the landmarks are well-maintained. It reminds me of a place called Vigan in the Philippines. The streets are also made of cobblestones and there are horse carriages roaming around. Some folks are in costumes too! I’m imagining myself retiring in a place similar to this.
