SWISS MISS

Switzerland was never in my list of countries to visit in Europe. I know, what was I thinking? How could I skip the Swiss Confederation when it’s just conveniently situated right smack in the middle of Germany, France, and Italy?! How can I not visit one of the richest countries in the EU? How can I not pass-by Zurich and see for myself why it has been consistently voted as one of the world’s top 3 best cities to live in? Well, I realized I cannot. So I did!

Much love and thanks to the Wรผthriches who took good care of me while I was exploring the land of Lindt chocolates, cheese fondues, and La Prairie moisturizers! ๐Ÿ™‚

Didn’t get to take pictures using my camera coz I decided to just enjoy the view and the vacation for the most parts. Sharing with you the few that I’ve managed to capture using my phone–

Zurich has a lot of bars and restaurants and I explored a few with these hardworking expats! ๐Ÿ™‚

I had an activity-filled afternoon with Cy, my designated babysitter for the day. We went up the ETH University and marveled at the top view of snow-covered Zurich.

We rented bikes and cycled along the river that leads to the Google headquarters. We ended up soaking in the view of the expansive Lake Zurich. Capped the night at Prime Tower, the tallest building in the city.

Hearts Day came and I found myself getting treated to a fancy dinner at the exclusive Top of Zurich. The place is literally at a high peak, overlooking the city. The view was breathtaking.

I must admit, I have always been a Valentine scrooge, turning down dates on the 14th. I like receiving flowers though but not the idea of being seen in public, dining with someone and getting all cheezy. I shudder!

That night, couples from all walks of life hopped off the train and headed to the restaurant like they were headed for a mass wedding. It was too funny to think that we took part of it. It still makes me cringe! Hahaha but I liked that my date had the foresight of booking the more exclusive gazebo. It proved to be a memorable night as the couple a table away from us got engaged! I wouldn’t want feb 14 to be the day of my engagement but the gesture was still so sweet that it made us swoon and feel all mushy inside! ๐Ÿ™‚

Every girl deserves to be treated as nicely as I was treated that night. Good job, date, good job! ๐Ÿ™‚

You’d think that night would be the highlight of my quick swing to Switzerland but no, it wasn’t. The best part of it was our day trip to Zermatt. How can you go to Switzerland and not see the Swiss alps?! You simply cannot. So we took the fast train to see the famous Matterhorn/ Toblerone mountain tip where people flock to snowboard and ski.

Trivia: Did you know that the largest plain waterfalls in Europe is actually in Switzerland?

I didn’t either. It was nice to get on a road trip with A and M and see the grandness of the Rheinefall!

I’ve always welcomed and enjoyed life’s pleasant surprises. This detour to Switzerland was unexpected but it was surely one that I do not regret making.

When you are away from your family, you find comfort in knowing that you have new-found friends to support you and that those you’ve left back home are watching from the sidelines and cheering you on, no matter what.

I’m happy to report that we have passed our MBA 1 with flying colors. Thanks for all the prayers! We just got our grades and happy to share that our cards were marked with merits and even distinctions. So yes, we are still focused on our studies, even with all the travelling that we have been doing. ๐Ÿ™‚

Our eyes will always be on the prize!

Love,
d.

p.s. Happy birthday to the one I would do anything for! She who has been such a driving force in my life. This woman has never ever made me feel bad about myself. She has always pushed me to be the best at what I choose to do. She has trusted all of my life decisions and picked me up in those times when I have faltered. She has been my bestfriend, my confidante, my number 1 fan… my Mama!

I love you with all of my heart, Ma! ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait to see and hug you again.
