MASTER OF HAUTE COUTURE
Whenever I hear the brand Valentino, two things come to mind: red and elegance.
Whenever I see a beautifully executed gown, I almost always exclaim: “Very Valentino!”
Fashion designer extraordinaire and Master of Haute Couture Valentino is all about glamour and going all out when it comes to fashion. But he also knows how to edit his pieces well. A dress illustrated by Valentino in the 50s can be realized in the 90s and still look fashionable. I believe that’s the mark of a truly gifted designer– one who has the ability to come-up with timeless pieces.
I was browsing through the Vogue website when I chanced upon an event announcement: Valentino exhibit in Sommerset House, London. My heart skipped a beat! Julia Robert’s Oscars dress by Valentino flashed in my mind. I had to see it.
Access to the exhibit was right behind Strand’s Ice Skating Rink.
Photography was not allowed in the gallery but I couldn’t resist the temptation. I managed to snap a few shots of the dresses.
This was the money shot:
I left the premises of Sommerset in awe. I read all of the letters of Karl Lagerfeld, Manolo Blahnik, Anna Wintour, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and Audrey Hepburn addressed to Valentino. I felt giddy for him. 🙂
Thank you to my friend JD for patiently accompanying me to an obviously very girly event.

To a life filled with pleasant surprises,
