In a time when it’s so easy to get mad at the world, Filipino clothing brand Team Manila is spreading POSITIVITY.
Joey Alviar, founding partner of the brand, used to maintain a website called goodtimes.ph. It’s a venue for promoting the one thing that humans are forever in search of–happiness! Taking inspiration from the website, Joey and team came up with a campaign that does not only promote their new in-store merchandise but the Filipino spirit’s resilience as well.
The Filipino smiles through tough times. The Filipino battles with everyday traffic, poverty, and other misfortunes but hey, bring out a camera and the Filipino will still smile for you! 🙂
As a nation, Filipinos are naturally well-meaning people. And that’s the same vibe that Team Manila wants to capture in their campaign. Be more like the Filipino that you should be and quit sweating the small stuff! Spread positivity!
AMBASSADORS OF FUN
I was on the way to grab a can of Chicago Popcorn in MOA when a bright orange shirt displayed at the Team Manila window grabbed my attention. It had “Ambassador of Fun” printed on it. Unaware of the campaign, I bought it together with a teal pouch that says Good Vibes. The optimist in me was able to relate to the message. I even posted it on Instagram. After a few days, I saw celebrities posting photos of similar items and talking about being Ambassadors of Positive Vibes. It had gone viral.
The first store of Team Manila opened almost 6 years ago was in PowerPlant Mall, Rockwell. Today, they launched a new store in the same mall (2nd floor) with a program featuring the Ambassadors of Positive Vibes.
By the invitation of Joey, I joined in on the fun!
My friends from all over can attest that whenever I travel and meet-up with them, I give them something from Team Manila. Folks in Europe, here’s a preview of what you’re gonna get when I arrive there this October–
The store is now packed with cool tees, Lomography cameras, ID Holders, pouches and other thingamajigs in local flavor, of course.
