THE SUN IS UP
So after days of heavy rain, the sun is now up in this part of town! Inspired by the beautiful change in weather, I have finally decided to turn a new leaf and bring sexy back. (As if I was ever sexy! Ahahaha) I renewed my Gold’s Gym membership in Katipunan. Good thing I never upgraded my BPI Edge credit card coz it now has a promo with Gold’s that gets me a month-long membership for only PHP 900 (USD 20). Without the promo, 1 month membership is PHP 3,800 (USD 85).
My trainer Archie designed a program that will wake-up my muscles and exhaust them to hopefully make them leaner and stronger. The goal is to shrink back to size small and shed-off 2 American dress sizes. Needless to say, a lot of cardio is involved in this new workout.(Goodbye, Cheetos. We had a good run. Know that a part of me died when I had to take you out of the grocery list. ;( )
Going back to the gym has been a crazy struggle with my lazy body and a gruesome battle with my stubborn mind. It was so hard to finally muster the courage and discipline to drag myself out of bed and off to Katipunan. The first day back is usually the hardest. So to reward myself for not backing out and cheating on Archie’s reps instructions, I went to the nearby nail salon and spa to get a mani-pedi and a back massage.
California Nails & Day Spa is situated just below Gold’s Gym at the 3rd floor of Regis Center, right across Ateneo de Manila University.
As soon as I entered the salon though, I noticed that the air-con wasn’t on full blast which made me frown a little bit. But then I thought it was probably better for my pulled and strained muscles. What put a smile on my face was the price of their services. It’s relatively cheap and student-friendly (10%off when you present your student ID).
I liked the lay-out of the interior. It reminded me of the beach and Palm Springs, of course! (Cue in Katy in her daisy dukes and bikini on top! Haha)
I liked that it didn’t feel cramped. There was probably room for at least 10 girls.
I chose the chair facing the Ateneo where I can look out on the green pastures and the nostalgic Katipunan road. 8 years of my life were spent in this area. I felt like a carefree student once again!
The back massage was very relaxing, thanks to Miss Sarah. The mani-pedi service was surprisingly fast yet efficient. I did not end-up with murdered toe nails. 🙂
Overall, I found the services satisfactory and the complimentary honey tea quite soothing.
I think I already know where I’ll stay often after gym hours. Inside this haven and away from the rows and rows of tempting Katipunan restaurants!
