Here’s how I use today’s networking sites: Facebook for life-changing moments, Twitter for one-liner thoughts or rants, and Instagram for photos I think are cool but not too relevant or pressing enough to share on my Facebook or Twitter accounts. I love Instagram the most because it makes people see mundane stuff in a new perspective. It gives us a glimpse of how our friends see things too. It gives us an insight as to what most people value and find beautiful.
It’s like settling on our choice of travel souvenir. It’s so telling of a traveler’s quirks.
Most people collect magnets and key chains. Others amass t-shirts. Some collect shot glasses.
My father collects travel plates. He’s willing to hand-carry breakable pieces of artwork back home every time he travels. For me, it says a lot about the kind of traveler he is–always prepared and not rushing.
My mother collects travel spoons. You know those shiny spoons with emblems at the end and packed in boxes? Tells us how much she likes her China and silverware!
My brother collects Limited Edition Nikes. His itinerary would almost always revolve around shoe stores. ‘nuf said.
I, on the other hand, collect treasure boxes, trinkets, and paintings. I also like taking pictures of names of countries arranged in a certain type. I have a favorite past time: Googling typography artworks. Try it, it’s therapeutic! I also like buying letters that form my name. [Narcissistic much?! :)]
I wonder what other interesting things people collect when they travel?
