OF BOOKS AND INSPIRATION

THE SMELL OF SOMETHING NEW

I love the smell of new books! It’s like McDonald’s French fries hot off the frying pan. It’s distinct and addictive. It’s also something the kids of the new generation might not be familiar with anymore because they now read from their iPads. But whatever the packaging is, we essentially buy these things for the entertainment and inspiration it gives us. Inspiration- something intangible but can jump-start a good day. It can be the impetus for a good and fabulous life.

[Generation gap. Umm kids, we use the pencil to rewind the tape or fix it when it gets stuck. See how lucky you are to have those kickass CDs and ipods!]

BEST DATE EVER

The best date I ever had was spent reading books in Fullybooked. Imagine your date- tall, dark and handsome with a book in one hand. You’re at the opposite ends of the bookshelf. He’s intensely reading his chosen book. But then he stops from time to time to glance at you to ask if you’re okay or if the book you’ve chosen is good. You say it is and he winks at you. Kilig diba??? Couples out there should go on a bookstore date at least once. It’s steady and does not cost a thing. Perfect proof of the quote “the best things in life are free!” Bookstore dates are sources of inspiration from the book you choose to the stares you share. Corny but true!

CAFÉ CHICK

And because I’m not coupled up now, whenever I find the time, I go to Serendra and read while drinking coffee at A Different Bookstore alone. It’s quite a chic trip. If you’re gonna try this out, make sure you bring your ipod. Plug in your earphones while reading so you won’t feel self-conscious. You can also bring light-tinted sunglasses if you want to appear incognito. I suggest you go with the earlier so that you don’t hide your face. You know very well that a book can be a good conversation starter, right? How’s that for motivation/inspiration? 😉

PROJECT FML

Part of Project Fix My Life is re-arranging my nest. The other week, I found time to fix the books on my shelf.

Here’s how a part of it looks like now:

I printed out my favorite travel quotes and put them in the white frames I bought from SM Department Store Home Section for cheap! It’s so Designsponge.com DIY day!
